Technical Description: 

• A Pitot tube is used to measure the local velocity at a given point in the flow stress. A Pitot tube of standard design made of copper/Stainless Steel is supplied and is fixed below a vernier scale. The vernier scale is capable to measure the position of Pitot tube in transparent pipe section. The pipe has a flow control valve to regulate the flow.

 

Learning Objectives/Experiments:

• To find the point velocity at the center of a tube for different flow rates of water and calibrate the Pitot Tube.
• To plot velocity profile across the cross section of pipe

Product Details:

Measurement of flow constitutes an essential part in all flow systems. The fluid flow in open channel definitely requires some system to measure the quantity of fluid passing through, Direct measurement of flow either gravimetric or volumetric is the most accurate method. An apparatus for determination of co-efficient of discharge of orifices and mouthpieces consisting of a storage Tank, Collecting Tank, supply Tank and Pump (0.5HP) for lifting water. Control valves and measuring instruments like stop clock, scale X-Y coordinate measuring arrangement etc.

Product Details:

The unit consists of a box with one leak proof transparent side. At the base of the box nozzle can be fitted to supply pipe. The flow can be controlled with a valve. A differential lever with a fine balancing arrangement is provided to measure the force exerts. Plates of different angle can be easily connected to the lever.
